Archbishop Oscar H. Lipscomb blessed six tractor trailer rigs bound for Rwanda at the Alabama State Docks for Rwandan Refugees. These units were used in humanitarian efforts to transport food, medicine and shelter materials to be used by Catholic Relief Services there.

McGill-Toolen High School’s varsity cheerleaders came away with the “Top Team” honors at the National Cheerleaders Association summer camp at Auburn University. The squad led by captains Maureen Mulroy and Stacey Inzina, was composed of seniors Ashley Bosarge, Elizabeth Hartmann, Cindy Hehman, Christie McKean and Kathleen Mulroy; juniors Brooke Braswell, Lacey Elder, Katherine Grant and Aimee Ward; and sophomore Shannon Grogan. Moderators were Rebecca Guined and Angel Helmsing.
