Congratulations to Fr. Douglas Martin, who was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee on Nov. 23 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Pensacola.
Fr. Martin previously served as director of Faith Formation and Youth Ministry at St. Columba Parish in Dothan. He is a former Episcopal minister who was received into the Catholic Church in 2001.
The Pastoral Provision, established in 1980 by Pope St. John Paul II, is a process for Episcopal clergymen who are married in the U.S. to request and petition for ordination to the diaconate and priesthood in the Catholic Church while being dispensed from the obligation of celibacy.
After going through the process of formation, studies and assessment, he was granted a dispensation by Pope Francis on Dec. 6, 2018.
Fr. Martin and his wife, Amanda, have three children.
