MONTGOMERY — The ladies of the Montgomery Deanery Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women (ACCW) will host the 84th annual convention Monday-Tuesday Oct. 21-22 at the Hilton Garden Inn-Eastchase in Montgomery. The convention theme is “Ordinary Women, Doing Extraordinary Work, Guided by Mary.”
Preceding the convention, the Archdiocesan Board will meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 20. Cost is $30. The arrangements for this event are being made by Jacque Rose Hudson.
Monday kicks off with recitation of the Rosary at 8:30 a.m. followed by 9 a.m. Mass at Holy Spirit Parish. Archbishop Thomas J. Rodi will celebrate the Mass and priests of the archdiocese will concelebrate. The homilist will be Fr. Daniel Owuor, F.M.H., pastor of St. Jude Parish in Montgomery. The public is invited to attend the Mass. There will be a hospitality coffee after Mass.
The opening business meeting begins at 11 a.m. with Connie Seyler, archdiocesan president, presiding. A luncheon will be at 1:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Norma Chism who is with LIFE (Ladies Influencing Freedom Excellence).
A panel consisting of Sisters from several religious communities will begin at 3:30 p.m. The moderator will be Sister Gilda Marie Bell, S.B.S. Other panelists will be Sister Gail Lambert, Mary Gayar and Sister Jane Kelly. Monday ends with Fun Night at 7 p.m.
