Fr. Ryan Council #2737, Knights of Columbus, Daphne, elected Donald Bertagnolli Grand Knight.
David N. Hathaway was named president of the Central Alabama Holy Name Union. A meeting was scheduled at Sahara Restaurant in Montgomery at which time state officers were to be elected. Edward P. Clark was chairman of the nominating committee.
Rt. Rev. William A. Houck, superintendent of schools for the diocese, announced registration to be held at all Catholic Schools on Aug. 29.
Fr. Russell Biven, diocesan director of CCD, announced the opening of an office in Montgomery staffed by Mrs. Fred Schramm, Jr.

The Knights of Columbus State Woman’s Auxiliary President Ann Kenny installed Cherie Still as president, Ladies Auxiliary 1994-95. Other new officers were: Rosalie Summrall, vice president; Mary Frances Hallet, corresponding secretary; Ellen Portella, recording secretary; Eva Burnett, treasurer; Mary Patrick, parliamentarian; Beth Portella, historian; and Marguerite Larche, Beverly Lucia and Lori Provost, directors.
State Deputy Charles D. Hedrick installed the Knights of Columbus Junior Auxiliary: Elizabeth Larche, president; Katherine Millette, vice president; Pam Cain, secretary; Cheryl Randol, treasurer; Kim Jordan, historian; and Ellen Portella, Marguerite Larche and Lori Provost, advisors.
Members of the 1994 McGill-Toolen baseball team, which advanced to the Class 6A state semifinals, were: Mike Modarelli, Drew Devun, Tim Hilpert, Wes Cooke, Alex Walsh, Clarence Berg, Michael Lightcap, Matt Adams, Chris Boulton, Patrick Judge, Todd Loper, Billy Vallas, Gene Hansen, Justin Bondurant, John Goula, Todd Machen, Brad Dunn, Sam Zoghby, Gabe Bolton and Byron Massey. Head coach was Joel Foshee, assisted by Tommy Merrick and Thomas Naman. Manager was Stephens Croom.
All Catholic school parents were invited to explore the question “What does it mean to be a 22nd Century Catholic School parent?” Dr. Elinor Ford, renowned for her work in Catholic education, spoke to parents, teachers and administrators in Mobile and Montgomery.
William Lee Rouse Jr. died. He was past president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and a Knight of St. Gregory.
The Ladies of Charity sponsored the annual “Grocery Shower” in every Catholic church in the archdiocese. Mrs. P. J. Cooney, Jr., served as chairman and Mrs. Jean Lewis was president of the organization.
