MONTGOMERY — “Ordinary Women, Doing Extraordinary Work, Guided by Mary” was the theme of the 84th annual ACCW Convention Oct. 20-22 in Montgomery at the Hilton Garden Inn. A hospitality reception, as well as the archdiocesan board meeting and dinner, was held Sunday.
Rev. Patrick Gilbreath, parochial vicar of Holy Spirit Parish in Montgomery, was the homilist for the Monday morning Mass which was followed by a hospitality coffee hosted by the Women of Holy Spirit. The luncheon speaker was Norma J. Chism, CEO and Founder of Ladies Influencing Freedom & Excellence, Inc.
On Monday afternoon, a panel discussion was held with Sr. Jane Kelly C.S.J. of Selma, Sr. Gail Lambert, M.S.B.T., Holy Trinity and Mary Zagar, Mary’s Haven of Prattville. Sr. Gilda Marie Bell, S.B.S., Resurrection Parish, served as moderator. Fun Night on Monday was hosted by Our Lady Sodality, Resurrection Catholic Church.
Rev. Daniel Aloo Awour, pastor of St. Jude Parish in Montgomery, was homilist for Tuesday’s Mass. Brunch speaker was Ms. Maureen Neighbors, a member of Holy Spirit Parish. She is a member of the Catholic Mass women’s prison ministry. The Ladies of Charity of St. Jude Parish were the hostesses. Rebecca Goff, clinical chaplain at Baptist Health, Montgomery Cancer Center, was the banquet speaker Tuesday night which was hosted by St. Jude Knights of Peter Claver, Ladies Auxiliary Court 148.
The banquet ended with the presentation of the Burse/SOS check in the amount of $403,486.98 to Archbishop Thomas J. Rodi.
