Spring Hill College, along with Dr. and Mrs. Charles Demeranville, announced Eleanor Grindinger as the first recipient of the Margaret “Meg” Demeranville ’01 Memorial Scholarship.
The endowed scholarship at Spring Hill College is awarded to a member of the Theta Delta chapter of Phi Mu who embodies Meg’s devotion to her sisterhood, service to others and academic achievements.
Meg graduated from Spring Hill College in 2001, where she was an active student and campus leader. She was a member of Phi Mu and maintained a lifelong affiliation and love of her sisters, working on various committees at local, regional and national levels. Meg graduated from George Washington University with master’s degrees in both Public Health and Public Health Administration and graduated with a Juris Doctorate from Samford University Cumberland Law School.
Upon Meg’s passing away in October 2018, the Demeranville family established a scholarship in her memory. More than 140 of her family members, friends and colleagues contributed to the memorial fund at her alma mater. “Kathy and I are overwhelmed by the support for the scholarship. Meg’s love for her sorority and Phi Mu sisters was at the heart of her life. We are honored by all those who gave in her memory so that her legacy can live on in perpetuity to future young ladies who follow in her footsteps at Spring Hill,” said Dr. Charles Demeranville, Class of 1975.
Eleanor Grindinger, the inaugural recipient of the fund established in memory of Meg, is a junior from Dallas, Texas, majoring in public relations and advertising with a minor in graphic design. She was fortunate to meet Meg personally when she attended a Phi Mu retreat at the Demeranville’s home in Point Clear.
Grindinger is actively involved in Theta Delta Chapter of Phi Mu, serving as the Vice President of Committees for the 2020-21 school year and is currently the Public Relations Chair.
She previously served as the Recording and Corresponding Secretary and was chosen to represent her chapter at the 2020 Phi Mu National Convention this summer.
